With engagement season in full effect, women everywhere have been bracing themselves for their perfect proposal. In fact, some of you have probably already decided what you’ll wear on the day you think he’s going to ask, or how you’ll announce your big news on social media (Hint: Do your close friends and family a favor and tell them FIRST). But what you’ve probably overlooked is the fact that with every proposal comes the end of the chapter we all know as “Singlehood.” So while you’re busy making plans, and planning which shoes you’ll wear on your big day, and who will be your maid of honor, we’ve created a list of 5 things every woman should have in case he pops the question.
1. Every woman should have memories with good girl friends.
Getting married means you’ll have a wonderful new life partner to explore the world with, but it also means you’ll probably be spending less time with your girlfriends. Starting a new chapter of your life is exciting, but if you know your commitment to your relations will be changing soon, now is the time to spend quality time with a good group of friends who will be genuinely happy for you once you get engaged.
2. Every woman should have products and services she can’t live without.

Studies show that women who enter into relationships with a set beauty routine, and a strong sense of things she likes to use to feel confident, are more likely to feel confident about herself during marriage. As the saying goes, “people love people who love themselves,” and it couldn’t be any more true than when you get married. Use this time to figure out which products you love, and which ones you’ll use daily. Sole Serum is a great product that helps women stay on their feet and get the job done at work, but it’s also great for treating your feet after you’ve been on them all day. Whether it’s treating your feet, or getting weekly facials, now is the time to learn what makes you happy.
3. Every woman should have a used passport.
When was the last time you went on a trip? Have you ever traveled alone? Now is a great time to travel the world and experience different places for yourself. Making some new memories now, that you can share with your fiance in the future is a fun way to spice up your relationship, while learning more about yourself before you give your life to another.
4. Every woman should have personal goals.
Let’s be honest, we’ve all had that friend who completely lost sight of all of her own personal goals once she got married or entered a long term relationship. Making a list of what you want to accomplish before you were married is a great way to ensure you never lose sight of your own dreams. Now is the time to jot down the things you want to accomplish 5, 10 and even 15 years from now. So, if you ever get caught in rut in a few years, you can always go back to your list and get yourself back on track.
5. Every woman should have a professional membership to an organization or club she loves.
Do you remember that girl, who was good at that thing, that worked with such and such? Nope? Then it’s time to get involved in a professional club or organization before you get engaged or married. This is a great way to have an organized way to stay involved in certain social circles without being forced to hit happy hour three times a week (Not that we don’t love us some #WineWednesday). Use this time to explore organizations or to get a mentor who can help you stay in touch with certain key players professionally. Not only will your future fiance appreciate your effort, but friends, family and colleagues will take you more seriously once they see that you’ve taken a mature approach to balancing your professional and personal life.
Are you hitched? What are some things you did for yourself before you said “I Do” to your #SoleMate? We’d love to hear in the comments below!
