May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists, and celebrated in communities all over the United States. Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling, and encourage more people to giving biking a try. Given riding’s health benefits, taking it for a whirl is more than worth it:
Since National Bike to Work Week will be held on May 16-20, and Sole Serum is a product that focuses on soothing fashionable AND athletic soles we thought it might be fun to showcase some of the more stylish cyclists out there! While of course encouraging our #SoleSurvivors to take to their bicycles and show off their biking style.
Of the 20 most bike friendly cities in the world, the U.S. occupies only one spot, with Minneapolis at number 18. Fun fact: Nearly 4.1 percent of Minneapolis bikers bike to work: Yes, even during their infamous winter months! More knowledge: Minneapolis was chosen as one of four pilot projects (along with Marin County, California; Columbia, Missouri; and Sheboygan County, Wisconsin) for the federal Non-Motorized Transportation Program, which aims to shift a share of commuters out of cars and onto bikes or foot. Now that’s pretty awesome!
As we’re sure you know, many of the most fashionable women on bikes seem to be photographed in Paris and Copenhagen. About 40% of people in Amsterdam commute by bicycle, so there are some great Dutch fashionistas riding daily.
